The Lost Lords of the Sahara – the Blue People
The Tuareg are nomadic tribes who roam the Sahara, slowly cross-crossing Northern African countries with their striking white camels and a natural elegance further enhanced by their indigo-dyed veils (known as the Alasho).
These tribes made a name for themselves as advanced traders and artisans. Most noteworthy for their swords, jewellery and river reed mats decorated with geometric motifs using polychrome leather embroidery, used as large floor coverings to create space for sleeping, tea drinking or prayer.
